Covid-19 information for international students

 

Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences welcomes international students despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Please be assured that our university will do the utmost possible to realize safe study experiences in Austria!

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting travel restrictions, it might not be possible that all international students will be able to get the necessary permission (visa/resident permit) for entering Austria. Besides this it is also necessary to consider that specific COVID-19 entry conditions (SARS-CoV-2 test / quarantine) might apply when entering Austria.

 

Information for students who need a visa and/or residence permit for entering Austria:

  • The Federal Ministry of the Republic of Austria for European and International Affairs currently informs as follows: “In context with the efforts undertaken to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs has decided to largely suspend all client facing services, including immigration matters such as visa and residence, at the Austrian representations abroad.” Please check this link for updated information regarding the current situation.
     

  • Nevertheless, for students, scholars and researchers there is still often the possibility to file the application for a visa or a residence permit. It is therefore highly recommended to contact the competent Austrian embassy by email directly in any case even though the website of the embassy states that they are closed, because the situation can change any time. 
     

  • Relevant Covid-19 information regarding visa and residence regulations and actual entry conditions for travelers from different countries you can find on the webpage of the Austrian agency for international mobility and cooperation in education, science and research (OeAD).

     

Students with European citizenship or students who do have a ‘student residence permit’ for another European country:

  • As it is not possible to predict how the COVID-19 situation will develop, please be aware that it might be necessary to offer distance learning or a combination of on-campus courses and distance teaching.
